This state-of-the-art adult and youth fitness center now occupies the third floor of the Berwick YMCA, a former high school wherein this level had been effectively abandoned for 20 years. Work included the introduction of an entirely new steel-frame structural system, woven into the 70-year-old masonry bearing walls and concrete floor decks to support the contemporary design loads. New expanded cardio equipment with individual monitoring and television screens, an isolated free-weight training room, office space, youth-related high-tech interactive gaming equipment, and restrooms were added to the existing space, along with new tinted insulated windows in the 80-seat capacity gym that overlook the town of Berwick.

The post Berwick Area YMCA first appeared on Studio KLP Architects.

Situated along the serene shores of Beaver Lake in White Haven, Pennsylvania, the new dining lodge at YMCA’s Camp Kresge provides a welcoming, rustic retreat for campers to gather and enjoy meals together. Spanning 6,000 square feet, this warm, open space features exposed wood trusses and abundant glass openings, creating a bright and inviting atmosphere that blurs the line between indoors and nature. Large doorways connect the dining area seamlessly to the outdoors, offering stunning views of the lake and surrounding forest.

Inside, the state-of-the-art kitchen is designed for efficiency and cleanliness, with FRP walls that make maintenance a breeze, ensuring a safe and sanitary environment for meal preparation. The lodge’s exterior combines heavy timber construction with cultured stone veneer, complemented by towering chimneys that add to the lodge’s classic, rustic charm. Every architectural detail is crafted to reflect Camp Kresge’s natural surroundings while offering campers a modern, comfortable space to gather and bond. This dining lodge is more than a place to eat—it’s a hub for connection, relaxation, and appreciation of the beautiful Pennsylvania wilderness.

The post YMCA Camp Kresge Dining Hall first appeared on Studio KLP Architects.
